‘I can’t wait’: Law And Order star shares thoughts on replacing Christopher Meloni’s Organized Crime

NBC Thursday nights offered three full hours of Law and order action from the first revival season of the original show in 2022 until the end of the 2023-2024 television season. However, in the fall 2024 TV lineup, Christopher Meloni’s show Law and order: organized crime is nowhere on NBC’s lineup, and its old Thursday slot will be occupied by Find. It’s a big change, and Law and order Star Mehcad Brooks shared his thoughts in a recent interview with CinemaBlend.

As always, Law and order will air at 8 p.m. ET and will be followed by Law & Order: SVU at 9 p.m. ET this fall, but Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Shanola Hampton’s Find will be broadcast in the 10 p.m. slot due to Organized crime‘s is moving to streaming for fans with Peacock subscriptions. Find is also a crime procedural, albeit with a considerable twist involving the main character and the man she kept in her basement.

When I spoke with Mehcad Brooks, who reprises his role as Detective Jalen Shaw alongside new actress Maura Tierney in Law and order Season 24, I asked for his opinion on Find closing out NBC Thursdays this fall instead of OC. He shared:

I don’t know Found other than the creator of the show (Nkechi Okoro Carroll) who is a friend of mine, and she’s amazing, and she’s very intelligent, and she’s an incredible writer, so I think she can manage this time slot. It’s a coveted time slot. But I think if there’s anyone and any show that’s perfect for that, I think it’s Found. And NBC knows what they’re doing. They covered it. I mean, they’ve had their eyes on this network since the ’90s. (laughs) They know what they’re doing. I wish (Found) well. I haven’t seen much of the show, but I’m looking forward to feasting my eyes on it. Welcome to Thursday night, guys.

Welcome to Thursday evenings indeed! As Brooks said, the post-SVU time slot is valuable in prime time, and I have to admit that Find should be a good choice after being glued to television throughout its first season. That said, it will seem strange not to have Law and order: organized crime Season 5 associated with Special Victims Unitespecially because we do not yet know when OC will premiere its first season as a Peacock streaming original.

Law and order: organized crime It came full circle with the Season 4 finale in May to set up the move to Peacock, which took a while. When NBC didn’t renew Organized crime at the same time as SVU And Law and orderfans began to worry about a cancellation. Instead, the move to Peacock is due to OCStreaming success after airing episodes on NBC is also why other shows like Quantum leap was not rescued.

Overall, NBC has plenty of crime action to fill in prime time on Thursday nights, even without Law and order: organized crime. Find was one of my favorite new shows from the 2023-2024 TV schedule, and I think it deserved the post-SVU time slot.
