New Bedford Police Arrest Man On Probation, Allegedly Finding Illegal Guns, Drugs

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A teenager was arrested in New Bedford after detectives seized drugs and guns from a residence.

According to officials, on Saturday, September 28, detectives concluded their investigation into a cocaine distribution operation operating out of a residence on Earle Street.

As a result of the ensuing search, detectives seized a plastic bag containing crack cocaine weighing 28.5 grams, 17 oxycodone pills, 12 partial Adderall pills, and a zip-top plastic bag containing marijuana weighing 63.1 grams.

O’Brien also allegedly possessed two digital scales, packaging materials and $4,134 which was allegedly seized due to the nature of the charges.

In addition to the narcotics, police seized a Glock 48 9mm firearm and a Sig Sauer P365 with an obliterated serial number and ammunition.

O’Brien reportedly has no license to possess firearms.

O’Brien was taken into custody and charged with trafficking crack cocaine and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, as well as Class B.

He was also charged with possession of a large capacity firearm for criminal use with its serial number obliterated and possession of ammunition.

O’Brien was placed on probation in 3rd District Court in May with a two-year suspended sentence.
