Leavenworth teen accepts plea deal for drug possession, theft

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (KCTV) – An 18-year-old Leavenworth man has accepted a comprehensive plea deal as he faces drug possession and theft charges.

Noah M. Day accepted the plea deal Friday, Sept. 27, pleading no contest to one count of possession of fentanyl and no contest to one count of vehicle theft.

Court documents say Leavenworth police officers were dispatched Feb. 16 to a call in which the person making the report said a person staying at his home was reported missing. Officers arrived and identified Day as the person and discovered he had active warrants out for his arrest.

When officers arrested him, Day told them he had contraband in his pockets and suggested the officers might want to “put on gloves” before searching him.

Officers then found two foil packages containing a substance that a Kansas Bureau of Investigation laboratory identified as fentanyl.

On May 13, surveillance video showed Day taking a stolen truck from the Fairway Hills Apartments in Leavenworth. He was later recovered from the Woodland Village Apartments parking lot.

Day will be sentenced on November 1, 2024.
