Oasis rejects dynamic ticket pricing for US concerts after UK chaos

Oasis have ruled out the use of dynamic ticket pricing for the band’s North American tour dates following Fury in the UK.

The Britpop group, which announced its reunion in August, said the controversial pricing model would not be used for 2025 shows in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Oasis management said: “Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing model will not be applied to the next sale of Oasis concert tickets in North America.

“It is widely accepted that dynamic pricing remains a useful tool to combat ticket sales and keep prices for a significant proportion of fans below market rates and therefore more affordable.”

“But when unprecedented ticket demand (where the entire tour could be sold multiple times by the time tickets go on sale) is combined with technology that cannot meet that demand, it becomes less efficient and can lead to an unacceptable experience for fans.

“We have made this decision for the North America tour to hopefully avoid a repeat of the issues recently experienced by fans in the UK and Ireland.”

The release of tickets this month in the UK prompted the government and competition watchdog to announce a review of dynamic pricing, under which tickets become more expensive when competition to buy them is fierce.

Some standard tickets have more than doubled, from £148 to £355, in a situation blamed on “unprecedented demand”.

Ticketmaster has previously said it does not set concert prices and its website says it is up to “the event organizer” who “has set the price of these tickets based on their market value.”

Oasis’ first performance in North America will take place at Rogers Stadium in Toronto, Ontario on August 24 next year.

They will then travel to the United States for Soldier Field in Chicago on August 28, MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on August 31 and Rose Ball Stadium in Los Angeles on September 6, with the final date announced for Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City on September 12.

Similar to the UK & Ireland tour, there will be a pre-vote for fans hoping to gain access to the sale first, with fans asked to confirm their entry before October 1st.

To enter, you’re asked where you live and a question about the last time they played in North America. The band last appeared on their 2008/2009 Dig Out Your Soul Tour.

Their first UK show will be at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on July 4.

A run of 19 dates across the UK and Ireland sold out, including two additional gigs at Wembley.

Tickets for Oasis’ North American dates go on sale October 4.
