Brookfield man admits to recording his sexual contact with girl

A northern Missouri man admitted Monday in a St. Louis federal court that he filmed himself having sexual contact with a young girl.

Russell Alan Pirkey, 54, of Brookfield, pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Pirkey admitted to using his cell phone to record his sexual contact with a 10-year-old girl.

The crime was discovered in April 2023 when the Brookfield Police Department was notified by a person concerned about Pirkey’s contact with the victim.

The defendant also agreed to forfeit his cell phone, tablet and various electronic storage devices seized by law enforcement during the investigation.

Pirkey is scheduled to be sentenced on January 14, 2025.

The sexual exploitation charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison.

The maximum duration is 30 years.

The Brookfield Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, the Kirksville Police Department and the FBI.
