New data dashboard provides overdose resources and test strips for Las Vegas

Health officials have launched a new data dashboard in an effort to prevent fatal overdoses in the Las Vegas area.

The Southern Nevada Health District states that Substance Use Dashboard offers information on fatal and non-fatal drug overdoses in Clark County.

This includes overdose rates and maps showing the highest incidence of overdose, as well as results from the SNHD drug control program. This allows people to send drug paraphernalia or waste for analysis to see what substances might have been incorporated into the drug.

Users can also find a list and map of harm reduction resources throughout Clark County.

SNHD is launching a new mail order program to send free fentanyl and xylazine test strips to individuals.

Called “The Strub Club,” this program will share easy-to-follow instructions on how to detect the presence of both in a medication. Visit the SNHD website to request test strips. A valid Clark County address is required.

Health officials say there were 692 overdose deaths reported in Clark County last year.

Opioids accounted for more than 68% of these deaths, and fentanyl-related deaths increased in the county by 92.7% from 2020 to 2023.
