Arrest after bow and arrows found in car parked near House of Lords

A man has been arrested after a bow and arrows were found in his car parked near the House of Lords.

The suspect was apprehended at 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday September 25 near the Peers car park, the Metropolitan Police said.

He was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon, contravening the Organized Crime and Police Act and obstructing a vehicle.

He was made subject to the Mental Health Act and has been released on bail pending further investigation.

The House of Lords and the House of Commons have been in break since Friday September 13 for party conferences, meaning a limited number of MPs and peers are working in the buildings.

A Met spokesperson said: “A man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon at around 6.15am on Wednesday September 25, near Peers car park.

“A bow and arrows were found in his car at the scene.

“He was further arrested for contravening the Organized Crime and Police Act and interfering with a vehicle.

“He was subsequently brought under the Mental Health Act and remains in the care of medical professionals.”
