WARSAW — Two people were arrested in Warsaw on drug trafficking charges.

Michael Allen Jordan, 42, of LaGrange, is charged with trafficking methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a level 4 felony; unlawful possession of a syringe, a level 6 felony; possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor; and possession of methamphetamine, a level 3 felony.

Jessica Lee Hughes, 38, Garrett, is charged with trafficking methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a level 4 felony; unlawful possession of a syringe, a level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.

On September 18, a Warsaw police officer saw a vehicle driving without a working license plate light. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jordan and Hughes was a passenger.

Jordan told the officer they were heading back to LaGrange from a Warsaw hotel after dropping off a friend.

According to court documents, during his contact with Jordan, the officer noticed Jordan attempting to reach into his pocket. A K9 unit on scene alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.

While searching the vehicle, officers found 16.3 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and several plastic bags and syringes. Backpacks containing methamphetamine, syringes and drug paraphernalia were also found in the vehicle.

Officers also found a plastic bag containing 2.1 grams of methamphetamine on the ground where Jordan was standing.

Jordan has two prior drug convictions in Allen and Noble counties. He has a criminal history spanning more than 20 years, including at least five convictions for possession of methamphetamine and four convictions for burglary.

Hughes has pending charges in DeKalb County for forgery and auto theft. At the time of this case, Hughes had a warrant out for her arrest in DeKalb County for trafficking methamphetamine.

Hughes will hold a status conference on Monday, October 21 at 10 a.m., in Kosciusko Circuit Court. Jordan will hold a status conference on Monday, October 28 at 10 a.m., at Kosciusko Circuit Court.
