Armed robbery at Bryanston jewelry story – LNN

Randburg police have confirmed that an armed robbery took place at Bryanston Jewelers yesterday afternoon.

According to police, a group of armed men stormed the store and smashed display glass at 2:00 p.m.

The suspects made off with an unknown amount of jewelry, escaping while firing numerous shots.

They fled Winifred Mandela Precinct (formerly Nicolway Shopping Centre) in a red Nissan and gray Hyundai sedan.

No injuries were reported and the suspects are still at large.

An employee at the center said they saw about eight people with guns. “I am not sure how long it took… Maybe about five minutes. Shots were fired as they were leaving.”

Jewelery stores targeted

This is not the first time jewelry stores have been targeted in the area.

In May 2015, a different jewelry shop was targeted and, in July the same year, there was an attempted robbery at Nicolway Mall.

In August 2016, suspects broke into the store by smashing a window, and in August 2020, six men broke into another jewelry store in the same center by breaking the display window.
