FREEHOLD – A 37-year-old Long Branch woman has been charged with using her employer’s company credit card to charge more than $80,000 in personal expenses over five years, said Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago on Monday.

Nadine Hurd is charged with second-degree theft by unlawful taking, according to the statement from the Prosecutor’s Office. If convicted, Hurd could spend up to 10 years in state prison and face a minimum of $100,000 in fines and restitution.

Hurd surrendered to authorities on Friday and was released on a summons, pending the outcome of the criminal case in state Superior Court.

Hurd worked as a customer service and inventory manager for a Wall-based manufacturing company. The company was not identified by name in the prosecutor’s statement on Monday.

In her professional capacity, Hurd was issued a corporate credit card to make business-related purchases on behalf of her employer.

An analysis of financial records by investigators found that Hurd also used the card to purchase personal items for herself from more than 50 different retailers. These items included clothing, jewelry, patio furniture and garden supplies. Hurd is also accused of using the card to completely remodel her kitchen, which included purchasing new appliances, all according to the statement.

The Prosecutor’s Office and the Wall Police Department conducted a joint investigation into the alleged thefts, which are said to have been committed between 2018 and 2023.

Assistant Prosecutor Kristen Anastos of the Financial Crimes and Special Prosecutions Unit is handling the case. Hurd is represented by Freehold-based defense attorney William Wachowski.
