Tavakece’s lawyer, Eparama Sailo, said he would file mitigating submissions before sentencing.

The court was told that Tavakece’s mother was present and wanted to express her support for her son.

However, Sailo requested that his feelings be included in the next submission.

Tavakece is expected to be sentenced next Monday.

The court heard that on the 25th of this month in Nadi, Tavakece dishonestly misappropriated a 9mm pistol, worth $1,500.

He is also accused of stealing three souvenir medals from the military organization.
