Detectives investigating brothel running and human trafficking in Paisley have made a third arrest.

Police Scotland said the 37-year-old, who has also been charged with serious offenses and organized crime, is expected to appear in court later in October.

The suspect was arrested in Abercorn Street as part of a major investigation in the Renfrewshire town.

Two women, aged 38 and 44, were charged with similar offenses last week following a joint operation with the Home Office’s Immigration Enforcement Team which focused at three addresses.

Detective Sergeant Jason Buxton said: “We will use every means available to apprehend and bring to justice those responsible for these types of crimes.

“Our main priority is to ensure the protection and well-being of vulnerable people affected and threatened by this type of exploitation.”

He added the force wanted to make the area a “hostile environment” for criminals and urged anyone with information to contact the agents.
