IPOB bans Independence Day celebration in South East

The indigenous people of Biafra have issued a statement banning the celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day in the South East region. According to the separatist group, anyone participating in activities marking Independence Day would be considered an enemy of the land.

In the announcement made on Monday, the group stressed that Igbo individuals should continue with their daily activities or stay indoors if they prefer, but that they should refrain from any form of commemoration activities. independence of Nigeria.

The indigenous people of Biafra claimed that despite the fact that the Igbos were involved in Nigeria’s independence struggle, the union did not benefit them.

The statement said: “IPOB calls on Biafrans across the world to go about their normal business because we are not part of Nigeria and had nothing to do with their independence under the British flag in 1960. We are aware that some prominent Igbo men and women played central roles. by guaranteeing the independence of the flag that Nigeria celebrates every year on October 1; However, to maintain such independence, it took more blood from the Ndigbo than from any other ethnic group in Nigeria.

“Biafrans have resolved to reject the bloody flag of Nigerian independence and work towards the restoration of a truly united and prosperous independent State of Biafra. This is why all Biafrans should reject this forced unity of Nigeria, as we hope to soon celebrate Biafran independence.”

The indigenous people of Biafra have urged Ndigbo to heed the call to refrain from any activities related to Nigeria’s Independence Day. They said there should be no displays of Nigerian flags in Biafran territory and no independence-related activities for students in the region.

The group stressed that it was serious about restoring Biafra’s freedom and sovereignty and warned against participating in Nigeria’s Independence Day celebrations.
