Man arrested in Severn shooting, woman hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries


SEVERN, Md. — A 48-year-old man was arrested early Saturday morning after a woman was shot during an argument at a residence on Oriole Court. The incident occurred around 1:33 a.m. on September 28, 2024, according to local authorities.

Officers arrived on scene and found one victim, a 34-year-old woman, with a gunshot wound to her lower extremity on the front porch of the home. She was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, identified as Stacy Delon Smith, was found inside the residence with a black Diamondback 9mm handgun. He obeyed police orders to drop the weapon and was taken into custody without incident.

    During a search of the vehicle, police found a black Walther PPK handgun and a partially loaded magazine in the trunk. The driver, Joshua Lee Rose Aiken, of Annapolis, is prohibited from possessing firearms and was taken into custody. He has been served with his warrant and is facing additional firearms-related charges.

  • Brooklyn residents arrested on drug and gun charges after noise complaint

    BROOKLYN, Md. — A noise complaint filed in the early hours of September 28, 2024 led to several arrests after officers discovered illegal drugs, firearms and ammunition during an investigation, according to police.

    Around 3 a.m., officers responded to a disturbance involving a group of individuals near Dell Street and Patrick Henry Drive. A white 2018 Infiniti Q50 was identified during the investigation, and a search of the vehicle revealed drugs, firearms and a large amount of cash.
