Half of a tech company’s HR department is fired after rejecting a resume; this is what happened

A recent post on Reddit went viral in which a manager revealed that half of his company’s HR department was laid off after his own resume was mistakenly rejected by the company’s faulty automated recruiting system.

Here’s what happened

In his position, the manager working as tech lead was looking for a unique recruitment in his team. However, for three months, he has not found anyone for the position. To identify the problem, he then created a new email and sent them an edited version of my resume with a fake name to see what was happening in the process and, much to his surprise, it was automatically rejected.

In his message, the technical manager expressed his frustration and wrote: “HR didn’t even look at my CV. I told management about it and they laid off half of the HR department in the following weeks, the problem was that they were looking for an Angularjs developer while we were looking for an Angular developer (different frameworks, similar names).

He further added that “these kinds of stupid mistakes should and can be fixed in minutes, and since CVs automatically rejected profiles without Angular, we literally lost every possible candidate.”

He also pointed out that when he contacted HR for recruitment updates, he was told “that some candidates had not passed the initial screening processes (which was false). » “People who work in HR. are incredibly poor and lazy,” the manager said.

Commenting on the post, Reddit users also shared their thoughts and experiences related to HR practices during recruitment.

One user asked: “What do they do all day?” If the entire process were downright automated without human supervision.

Another user shared their similar experience and said, “In my first year of college, my roommate was applying for internships. He received a rejection email 20 seconds before receiving the application receipt email lol”

Another user added: “Are you getting any replies?

“This happened to me when I applied for a job at a hardware store, but they had the courtesy of waiting 4 minutes,” one user said.

“I received a rejection around 1am the day after submitting an application for a local company. I don’t know how they do it lol,” another user shared.

A mother-of-one said: “It’s extremely sad and disheartening. My son also received many car rejections and I didn’t understand why. Now I know. Indeed, HR is lazy!
