9 arrests made after Sunday Levelland search revealing gambling devices

Charges of racketeering, racing, money laundering and promoting gambling led to nine arrests near Levelland, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

On Sunday, September 29, investigations with DPS, the Texas Racing Commission, the South Plains Auto Theft Task Force and the Hockley County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on a property related to a Levelland resident. The search revealed 135 grams of cocaine and “numerous gaming devices” found and seized, according to a DPS news release.

Nine people were arrested on several charges, including promoting gambling, engaging in organized criminal activity, money laundering, using the proceeds of racketeering or illegal debt collection, racing illegal activities, as well as the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.

The investigation is ongoing.
