Cartersville man sentenced to 20 years in prison for child exploitation

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (WDEF) — A Cartersville man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for child exploitation charges.

Ian Alicea Prewett was charged with inciting children to commit sexual acts with the intent of producing child pornography.

According to U.S. Attorney Buchanan, between 2020 and 2022, Prewett uploaded sexually explicit images of minors to Instagram.

Prewett attempted to conceal his identity, but federal agents were able to identify him.

A search warrant was obtained for Prewett’s residence in May 2023.

During the search, officers discovered a cell phone with the accounts Prewett used to post child pornography.

Prewett was already awaiting trial in Cobb County when the search warrant was issued on charges of rape, child molestation and child enticement.

He asked a 14-year-old girl to send him sexually explicit photos of herself on Instagram and then engage in sexual acts with her.

This was not the first time Prewett had committed such acts.

Prior to his arrest in 2023, Prewett used social media to influence children to create sexually explicit material and engage in sexual acts.

One victim was aged under 8 and lived in the United Kingdom.

Prewett asked her to send photos and videos of her performing sexual acts.

He also did this to a minor in Mobile, Alabama.

Prewett would later travel to Mobile and engage in sexual acts with her.

Prewett pleaded guilty to those charged on April 24, 2024.
