Police search for suspects in armed robbery at Rivers Casino

The Des Plaines Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at Rivers Casino on Monday, September 30 at 1:45 a.m.

Des Plaines officers went to the casino located at 3000 S. River Rd. after a 38-year-old complainant from Palatine called 911 to report that four men armed with guns had attempted to steal her vehicle. A preliminary investigation revealed that the caller, her husband and two friends were leaving the casino and walking toward her vehicle, a white 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, when she observed a man wearing a full face mask in her vehicle. The caller said he saw three other suspects, all men armed with guns and wearing full face masks.

One of the subjects was standing in the front of the Jeep, holding a gun, and the other two were sitting in a silver Volvo parked just north of the Jeep. The caller’s husband, a 40-year-old man from Palatine, attempted to approach the driver’s side of the Jeep. At that point, one of the suspects in the parked Volvo pointed a gun at him and warned him to stay away.

The couple then began to walk away from their vehicle to call and request police assistance when the suspect got out of the Jeep, ran towards the husband, pointed the firearm at his face and removed by force a silver necklace around his neck. The same suspect then approached one of the couple’s friends, a 28-year-old Vernon Hills man, pointed the gun at him and ripped a silver necklace from his neck. The subject then ran towards the Volvo, got into the vehicle with his accomplices and fled.

The victims refused medical treatment, saying they were not injured. If anyone has information about this incident, they can call 847-391-5400.
