West Virginia Man Sentenced for Illegal Gun Possession

BECKLEY, West Virginia – Jason Michael Tucker, a 43-year-old Frankford resident, was sentenced today to two years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. The sentence was handed down in U.S. District Court.

Court documents reveal that on December 30, 2022, Tucker engaged in the illegal sale of a Ruger Wrangler .22LR revolver for $125. This transaction took place in Greenbrier County and involved a confidential informant. Additionally, Tucker admitted to selling a quantity of fentanyl to the same informant hours before the firearms transaction.

Federal law strictly prohibits people convicted of felonies from possessing firearms or ammunition. Tucker, aware of the legal restrictions imposed on him because of prior drug convictions in 2005 and 2018, proceeded with the firearms sale anyway.

Tucker’s criminal history, which spans more than 23 years, includes other charges such as forgery and breaking and entering. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Andrew D. Isabell and involved significant contributions from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Greenbrier Valley Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.

U.S. District Judge Frank W. Volk handed down the sentence, noting the coordinated effort by federal and local law enforcement agencies to combat such violations.

  • Kamala Harris Accused of Stealing Value from Her Campaign Platform Over No Tip Tax

WASHINGTON, DC — Former President Donald Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., accused Vice President Kamala Harris of hijacking a key tax proposal from his father’s platform, following a statement from the Trump campaign suggesting Harris had embraced the “no tip tax” proposal ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

It comes just days after his running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, was criticized for claiming to have fought in war, something he never did.

Walz is haunted by his claim that he carried weapons of war during the war. His official Defense Department records show that he was never deployed to a war zone. The closest he came to combat was a brief stint as a National Guardsman in Italy.

In a tweet posted 34 minutes ago, Trump Jr. claimed that Harris and her potential running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, were guilty of “stolen proposals and stolen courage.”

The tweet was a response to an earlier post from the Trump campaign’s official War Room account, which accused Harris of political opportunism and said she would not pursue the tax proposal.

Vice President Kamala Harris has waded into the 2024 tax debate with a headline-grabbing proposal: eliminating federal taxes on tips for service-sector workers. The twist? It sounds eerily similar to one Donald Trump floated just months ago, sparking speculation that Harris might borrow a page from his playbook to win over working-class voters.

Critics are divided. Some see it as a smart move to attract service-sector workers, while others see it as a blatant attempt to steal Trump’s thunder. The debate is heating up as both candidates vie for support from the same key voter base.

Trump’s campaign has stressed that the “no tip tax” proposal is an important part of Trump’s economic agenda, aimed at reducing the tax burden on service sector workers. Harris’ campaign has yet to respond to those accusations.

The exchange comes as the 2024 presidential campaign heats up, with both parties carefully examining each other’s platforms and proposals.
