#EndBadGovernanceInNigeria Protest Leader Arrested By DSS In Abuja

According to Damilare Adenola, Take It Back Movement Mobilization Director Lenin was arrested at his home in Apo around 2am on Monday, August 5.

“Lenin was arrested by the DSS. He was arrested during a raid on his home at around 2 a.m.

“He was arrested and tortured in the presence of his family. We demand his immediate and unconditional release,” he added. Adenola said.

According to the report, DSS spokesman Pierre Afunanya has not yet responded to requests for comment.

Lenin, who is also the national coordinator of the Youth Rights Campaign, had recently criticised President Bola Tinubu’s response to the ongoing protests.

At a press conference, Lenin expressed disappointment at the president’s speech, which he described as out of touch with the reality of Nigerians.

“We wish to express our sadness and deep disappointment over President Tinubu’s latest broadcast, which is his first address to the nation on the #EndBadGovernance protests after over three weeks of mobilisation and significant losses among protesters and journalists.

“Many hoped the president would address the nation sooner to ease tensions, but instead he justified state violence and dismissed the protesters’ demands,” Lenin said, according to Punch.

“We call on Nigerians to come out in large numbers to continue these protests on Monday until our demands are met,” Lenin urged.

“The dual approach of violence and propaganda has failed. Violence and repression are only attempts to silence and control us, and propaganda can neither influence nor deceive us.”

The arrest of Lenin, a vocal critic of the government, has intensified the protests and drawn attention to the issues raised by the EndBadGovernance movement.

As the nation awaits further developments, protesters’ demands for justice and accountability remain resolute.
