8 people arrested and nearly 600g of drugs seized during a police operation

Eight people were arrested and more than 576 grams of illegal narcotics were seized by police in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood on Tuesday, police said.

Of the eight arrests, seven were made on suspicion of possession for sale of narcotics and one person was allegedly found in possession of a loaded firearm, police said.

The city’s Drug Market Agency Coordination Center planned the one-day operation as part of efforts to curb what police describe as the city’s drug crisis.

Agents from the Fugitive Search Team, Narcotics Unit, Narcotics Recognition Team, Tenderloin Station Patrol and Tenderloin Plainclothes Team participated in the operation. The Drug Enforcement Administration, San Francisco Sheriff’s Office and National Guard provided assistance.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at (415) 575-4444 or text TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
