Camera captures theft of gardening tools in Streetsboro

Streetsboro police are asking for the public’s help after a homeowner’s camera captured someone stealing yard tools from a home.

“What’s as serious as a porch pirate? Someone stealing your yard tools from your driveway,” the police department’s Facebook page reads.

Police said the homeowner was mowing the lawn in the backyard when a woman got out of a car and stole three gardening tools, including a leaf blower and a weed trimmer, from the front yard. The suspect yelled at the driver as he tried to back up while she got into the vehicle.

“It was expected: the driver lowered her visor to protect her face and is wearing a mask and sunglasses,” the message read. “We are confident someone will recognize her or the car. They fled on Page, most likely heading north.”

The post includes a photo of a tattoo or bruise on the suspect’s right wrist.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or who recognizes the car is asked to call Streetsboro Dispatch at 330-626-4976, email [email protected] or [email protected].

Reporter Diane Smith, whose Ring camera only captures people entering and leaving her home, can be reached at [email protected].
