Search warrant leads to gun seizure, arrest in Lexington Park

LEXINGTON PARK, Maryland – On July 9, detectives with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division executed a search and seizure warrant at a residence in the 21000 block of Dayflower Place in Lexington Park, Maryland, as part of an ongoing investigation.

During the search, detectives found a 9mm handgun in a bedroom belonging to Zemar David-Tyshon Batts, 19.

Batts was later arrested and charged with possession of a regulated firearm by a person under 21.

Additionally, a second firearm identified as having been stolen from Hagerstown, Maryland in 2017 was recovered during the search; no charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.

Batts was transported to the Leonardtown Detention and Rehabilitation Center for trial. After appearing before the District Court Commissioner, he was released on bail.
