Who should compete in the FedEx St. Jude Championship besides Scottie Scheffler

Some of the biggest names in golf will head to Memphis for the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind.

The tournament is the first stage of the FedExCup Playoffs, and only the top 70 players in the FedExCup rankings will qualify for the event. This can lead to late drama in the weeks leading up to the tournament, including last year when Justin Thomas landed just outside the cut line while inches away from hitting a chip shot that would have allowed him to qualify.

Last year’s tournament went to a playoff and Lucas Glover defeated Patrick Cantlay to win the title.

With two months until the PGA’s top players arrive in Memphis for the Aug. 15-18 event, here’s a look at the projected field.

Who is at the top of the FedExCup standings?

It’s no surprise that world number one golfer Scottie Scheffler leads everyone else in the FedExCup standings. After his victory Sunday at the Memorial Tournament, Scheffler has 5,051 points, 2,171 ahead of Xander Schauffele, who is far behind.
