Enniscorthy candidate ‘disillusioned’ as voters reject change – ‘They might think they want it, but they don’t’

The harsh realities of politics hit the Wexford counting center for Majella Wall on Saturday evening, as the anticipated appetite for change in Enniscorthy failed to materialise. The first-time candidate, who was running under the Wexford Independent Alliance (WIA) banner, was left “disappointed” and “disillusioned” after being eliminated in the fifth count with 740 votes.

Accepting the result and the way people voted, Ms Wall said the most infuriating thing was that the result in Enniscorthy, where the five sitting councilors were all elected, did not match what she had heard on the doorstep.
